In 2003, the institution was registered as Kolej Kejururawatan Pusrawi and offers only Diploma in Nursing Sciences Course to SPM leaver. In 2010 a new management was appointed to change the whole scenario and direction of the institution. 

The first approach that the new management has taken is to rebrand the whole institution in Oct 2010, with a change of name to Pusrawi International College of Medical Sciences who is also known as PICOMS. Starting with only one program in 2010, now UCMI has offered 32 programmes from Post Basic/Certificate, Diploma, Degree, Master  to PhD levels which are fully recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and the Ministry of Higher Education.

Even though the main focus of UCMI is education we have taken initiative to explore another source of  income in entrepreneurship activities. PICOMS Trade and Service Centre (PTSC) were established to realise this. Three units were formed under this centre that is the PICOMS Healthcare Centre (PHC), PICOMS Academy and PICOMS Trade Centre (PTC). 

The centres are fully operational and stand at competitive levels in the market. It not only acts as another source of income to the institution but also works as a platform for UCMI students to enhance their skills as a practical centre and offers job opportunities to them.

In 2018, UCMI have carved another mark in history when we have achieved a University College Status on 13th April 2018. We are now known nationwide as University College MAIWP International . We are a proud Institution that has over 4000 active students and over 7500 alumni in various programs which are now serving in various sectors locally and internationally. 

By referring to the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025 as the guideline, UCMI are now embarking into a new era of education and exploring the possibility of establishing a Waqf University under the directions of the new Minister. 

We believe by helping the Asnaf in improving their education, they will improve the economy of their family thus improving their way of life and contributing back to the nation. We provide the platform for the nation to invest for their afterlife and thus reduce the financial dependency from the government.

In UCMI we believe by nurturing the holistic elements of our students, we can improve their spiritual and mental ability to transcend beyond the realm of ordinary comprehension through ethical values and sound deportment. A better holistic graduate contributes towards a better nation.
